Don’t Hush. Don’t Blush.
This poster was created as part of a visual campaign addressing the stigma around menstrual hygiene in India.
For generations, menstruation has been surrounded by silence, shame, and misinformation. Women are often expected to stay quiet—to hush, to blush, and to hide. This culture of silence contributes to poor menstrual health practices, social exclusion, and a lack of education around something that is natural and essential.
Through this artwork, I aimed to confront that silence with symbolism and empathy. The central figure holds a finger to her lips, not as a sign to stay silent, but to represent the internalized hush so many have grown up with. Surrounding her are women with similar expressions, each caught in their own silence. The lotus in the center stands for strength, purity, and transformation—symbolizing the power of breaking the stigma through conversation.
This project is a call to action:
“Your voice can break the silence. One talk can end generations of shame.”
As a designer, I believe in the power of visual storytelling to spark dialogue around uncomfortable but necessary topics. This piece stands as a reflection of that mission.
